Dadless, But Not Fatherless

“You might have had a dadless past, but you don’t have to have a fatherless future.”

Through life I have realised that no person can truly live independently. We all need a life saving hand at some point. Through my faith in Jesus and in God’s life-transforming word, I am a new man with renewed hope, purpose, peace and power. With God’s Holy Spirit I truly am a new creation, and so you can be too.

About the Book

Growing up I had a mindset of inferiority and a feeling of being average at best. I have come a long way and I am still on the path of restoration, wholeness and overcoming. I always saw myself as being far less important, confident and successful than everybody else around me; and it showed in my performance in day to day experiences and interactions, social life and work life circles.

When I look back over my life and see how far I have traveled and where I have come, I can only attribute my successes and growth to Father God along with other people He has placed in my path to sharpen and shape me into being a better person, a better man, a better husband and dad.

My prayer is that you will get on to your path of transformation through these pages and begin to experience all that God has for you.

I started out life in a small town with my mum and two brothers. My elder brother and my twin, of which I am the younger. Our dad left us at a very early age and we had to get on with life without him. Mum made sure we had what we needed, however, there were many struggles and difficulties for her. I didn’t grow up in a Christian or religious environment, but at the age of 15, thanks to the goodness and grace of God and some good people, I made a decision to receive and follow Jesus.

Around 18 years of age I moved to the nearby regional city of Albury, and I began working. It was there I spent the next 11 years. During this particular time, I found myself in recurring cycles of unhealthy life patterns; of which later in Melbourne I had personal breakthrough and permanent victory over.
At about the age of 29 I had a growing desire to do some formal study and decided to make the move to Melbourne, Victoria; where I studied at Harvest bible college; subsequently getting my Diploma in Christian Ministry. During that study period I met my wonderful wife, Carmel. And in early 2009 we got married. Carmel and I spent many years being involved in various church ministries.

In 2016 Carmel and I had our son, Isaac. He was our miracle baby, our son of promise. In late 2021 both Carmel and I felt that God was speaking to us to relocate to Bundaberg, Queensland. (It was in this same year also that I reached out to my dad before his passing; from which came much personal resolve and closure.)

At the end of May 2022 Carmel, Isaac and I made the move and are now settling into our new church home at Citicoast Church. We are both excited as to what God has prepared for us in this next chapter of our lives.

When you know you have heard from God, don’t second guess yourself, and keep moving forward. Stay the course. Others will always have an opinion, but God will always give the truth. When others fail, betray or leave you, God will never leave, forsake, abandon you, or leave you powerless.
